🔥 Choose Your Own Adventure: Burned Out or Burning Up?
Hellllo, camerados!
See that? It's the SUN and its rays and hope of spring and warmth and movement are flowing into my office and over my skin and I am HERE FOR IT.Â
Tonight's a full moon, and I'm here for that sweet release too. I love pulling a tarot card to explore what needs to be let go of over this next moon cycle. I find that March is a tricky time for writers. We're over the new year buzz and reality is settling in. Perhaps your reality is that you are riding a huge wave of determination and energy. For some of you, that's not the case - you're frustrated you are falling short of your goals and promises to yourself. You wonder if this will be yet another year where writing took a back seat or where you felt like you didn't make the most of the time you had. (Insert any other big feels here).Â
In my experience, March sorts writers into one of two camps, though there are always exceptions:
The Burnout Camp is already feeling the toll and strain of trying to maintain a writing practice amidst the responsibilities and challenges in their lives. It's only March, but they're exhausted. They've lost steam and maybe hope, too. It all feels grim. They wonder if this year is already "over" for them. Their habit energy or life circumstances have too strong a pull away from the writer's seat. They sign up for classes they never take. They feel a pang of jealousy when other writers talk about how many words they got in. Maybe going into a bookstore is even a misery...will they ever see their work on those shelves?
The Burning Up camp is the polar opposite. They are FILLED with ideas, an almost restless spring energy of go! go! go! They have so much they want to DO and so little time and they are throwing themselves into their goals and projects and dreams. BUT. It's a lot. The flame is bright, but it's hot. It burns. They need a way to make choices, to focus all this generative energy so that it can make something great. There is a pressure building, and that's motivating and good, but if they don't make skillful use of all this, they might just end up crashing and...burning out.Â
To work with both of these energies and meet writers where they are, I've created two special creative seasons that will go from March 15th - June 15th OR April 1st - July 1st. Choose your own adventure.Â
Monthly payment plans available.🙌
FLOURISH x Burnout
My three-month signature creative season with a twist: In addition to looking at your process, practice, and project we'll be working through the Nagoski sisters' Burnout workbook, using specialized tools they provide specifically for artists working through this workbook. I know many women who have read this book or heard of it and it resonates: but few take the time to actually integrate these powerful lessons around women and burnout into their lives. In fact, they're off to the next thing, looking for a quick fix (good luck with that). BUT THIS WON'T BE YOU. Because you're tired of things not working, of one more wellness thing that disappoints, of knowing but not integrating.
This is a holistic, whole life recovery plan. We'll combine our work on why you're burned out and what plans and practices we can implement to switch things up with the energy of the Hermit card in tarot - settling in, looking deep within, figuring out what shifts need to happen so that your burned out flame springs back to life. We'll have mindfulness and a meditation practice that works for you as the foundation of our work.Â
By the end of this season, you'll have the clarity, restorative energy, focus, and a PLAN to turn this year around.Â
FLOURISH x Tarot
Are you burning up with creativity?
Hell yes. Let's ride this Chariot home. The focus of this Flourish season is on using the structure and guidance of tarot to help you work with this big magic.Â
When you've got all this energy, all these ideas, it really helps to have a tactile, tangible tool that you can work with as you channel this good stuff onto the page.
We'll use tarot to ask questions and get clarity on which projects to do, and on the projects themselves. (Spreads for plot and character, for example).Â
We'll work with a specific archetype each month to help you deepen into the qualities you most want to show up in the writer's seat. The Magician? The High Priestess? The Fool? What would it be like to have a focusing archetype to support all this adventure and exploring?Â
We'll be using different decks to bring emotional resonance on the page, and sift through card practices (including visualization and intentional daydreaming) to work with being stuck, uncertain, or confused in the writer's seat.Â
This is a season of play and generative work, of directing the fiery creativity that is consuming you (heyyyy Queen of Wands) into a project or path that is calling for your light.Â
No prior tarot experience is necessary. Once you choose this season, you'll receive resources on how to prep for our work.Â
Expect lots of fun, tons of tools that you'll be using for life, and magical delight.Â
Above: The Chariot, 2 of Pentacles, and Queen of Wands from The Light Seer's Tarot: Basically, this spread is asking how you can persevere toward your goal by embodying your creativity and owning it while balancing all that energy and the other responsibilities of your life. Answer: A creative season, of course!Â
Shoot me an email if you have questions. Once you check out, I'll send you a note to double-check on which season we're doing and get you set up for season prep. I'll also check in about whether you'd like to start on March 15th or April 1st. Again, monthly payments are available!Â
Yours in doing right by the miracle,Â
P.S.
