My Interview with Canvas Rebel

I had the pleasure of doing an interview with Canvas Rebel magazine and you can read it here. It's all about how I work with writers and the intersection of my identity as an author and a coach. 

Writing Exercise: Answer the same questions I did! I always tell my writers to give fake interviews to begin telling the story THEY want to live as a writer. It's also a good way to get clarity on where you're at and where you want to go. One of the best way to fix plot trouble is to give a fake interview to the Times about how you overcame that challenge and are now receiving the National Book Award. It might sound hokey, but it's helped me get out of a plot bind more than once because the practice activates your best, most articulate self (I mean, you're giving an interview to the Times!) and so that inner wisdom comes through.
