Thank you for this report. I live in a neighborhood with a large Ukrainian American population that has offered homes and work for thousands of Ukrainian refugees. I feel their gratitude when they see my patches and buttons supporting Ukraine, and I want to give the same support to you in Minnesota. I hope the choices don't come down to the ones the Ukrainian people are facing, when nonviolence no longer works because the forces against them are so monstrous and so committed to their destruction.
Thank you, Lyn. And thank you for the incredible work you do as a writer, sharing the stories of how young people have fought fascism and authoritarianism throughout time. Your books are blueprints!
Thank you so much for putting all this down. As someone spiritually aligned most with Buddhism and Episcopalianism, my biggest challenge in all of this has been to control my anger and the hatred I feel toward Jonathan Ross, ICE, the MAGA cult, and all who align themselves with these people. I'm in the Bay Area and feel like this could be my neighborhood any day now. It's horrific how they're terrorizing your community, and should not be happening, but thank all of you in Minnesota for showing us how to endure and fight back.
Thank you for responding. It's important to keep the communicaton channels open. Rest assured that our home is open to you, to immigrants, friends and all who are working so hard to oppose the current monstrosity that passes for an American federal admin. We have immense admiration for all those on the front lines in Minneapolis and other cities, states and counties in the United States. We have donated to the cause and would like to do more so if people want to make suggestions we are listening. Bravo to those who are refusing to submit.
Hi Heather. Merle Klyne here in Manitoba. There is no particular reason for you to remember but you did some amazing editing for me re "Tarpaper House". My wife and I would like to contact you privately as I am hesitant to put my email or phone number on a public forum. We are concerned for your safety and about the terrible things happening in your city and country. If you still have my email or a way to contact me please do so. Stay strong and free! We want to help.
Thank you, Merle! Of course I remember you. Thank you for reaching out. Any kind of solidarity from other communities is so helpful. Sharing the truth of what is going on is essential. We want to make sure that the world keeps seeing this and that Trump doesn't try to distract with taking over Greenland, for example. (Oh my god, don't even get me started). Thank you for your good care. We are safe and taking care of one another. Our activists are smart and getting smarter every day!
Heather, I don't even know how to put what I am feeling into words.
I fear for so many in our country.
I rage at men who are selfish and blind.
Thank you for sharing your lived experience.
Be safe out there!
Thank you, Beth. It took me a long to put any words down. We'll all keep trying!
