It’s my birthday! I’m going to lead with that because, why not? I’m grateful to be breathing and safe and creating and to have this space to connect about the things I care about most. What a gift.

That’s me walking across our favorite summer lake - walking on water, if you will - this past December. A perfect activity to launch my word of the year for 2025: courage.

The courage to say no.

The courage to say yes.

The courage to write, despite the odds.

The courage to say the thing no one wants to say.

The courage to heal.

The courage to trust my writing to love me back.

The courage to rest.

The courage to dismiss whatever insults my own soul (thank you, Whitman).

I’m going to keep this short because everything I want to say to you, my fellow writers of The Future (we are well in the future now), I said in my recent interview with NYT-Bestselling author Evelyn Skye on her Creative. Inspired. Happy Podcast.
